Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Candice M — 21 Dec 2018
IGNORE THE CRITICS! This movie was fabulous in every sense! Beautiful, fascinating, touching and inspiring, it presented the life of an amazing singer loved by his band, his nation, and the world. The critics say that it's a cookie-cutter movie that negatively portrays gay culture of the time -- but the film is not that way at all.
It shows a talented, yet lonely young man who wandered into a segment of gay culture promising acceptance and excitement, and finding both, but never finding love or stability. The other band members, none of whom are gay, continue to love and miss their lead singer even when he abandons them for a clique of enablers and the cash reward of a solo contract.
The reunification of the band and their performance at Live Aid shows a small group of people at the very best: tolerant, accepting, forgiving, talented,, energized and very very entertaining!
