Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Cheryl F — 22 Dec 2018
As someone who lived through the time of Queen's various incarnations, I loved the movie. As a teenager, my family listened to A Night at the Opera probably over 1000 times as we drove across the US in a motor home on a month and a half long summer vacation.
It was something to remember. I was a pubescent teen of 13, my older brother 15 and little brother still in kid stage at 11. My Mom, in her early 50s was a trooper while going through the South in full blown menopause.
My Dad, handling it all and doing the dominant portion of the driving along the way. Queen was our outlet to all learn the words and sing along with Freddy, et al at the top of our lungs. In my 20's I firmly remember the sores that friends in retail were getting on their faces and how they wasted away from AIDs.
Queen is still a part of our life in my family now. My 22 YO son grew up with the songs on K-RTH and we have been to many of the "revival" concerts including recent ones with Adam Levine. Brian May is still the genius guitarist along with Roger Taylor and his overall intensity.
I will watch and enjoy this movie many times over. Love all the retro that brings back the memories!
