Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Chris G — 05 Dec 2018
The movie takes some poetic license with historical accuracy, and does not delve too deeply on the tragedies of Freddie Mercury's personal life. It does not pretend to aim for that either, and would be far more depressing if it did.
What the movie strives for, and ultimately accomplishes, is a celebration of Queen and Freddie Mercury's legacy to humanity: the Music they produced together, and how it touches the audience.
Rami Malek's performance would be a make-or-break for the entire thing, but thankfully he delivers an awesome performance, replicating the stage mannerisms of Freddie with uncanny similarity and energy.
