Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Giorgio G — 16 Nov 2018
Well, what can I say. It's emotional, yes, but for my taste way too much drama. And still, with so much drama, I shed only a tiny tear in the corner of my eye. In fact I shed more tears in The Grinch and Small Foot, and those are cartoon movies. All in all, too much drama for too little music. Hardly ever do you hear Queen music in the background and there are dozens of scenes which would have been adequate to add some more. I think the whole deal simply lacked a better director.
Rami Malek did a good enactment of Freddie, but his lip-sync should have really been better, not blaming him, but again the director and the editor. Freddie's story, which should have been an epic movie, turned out to be an interesting flick, and nothing else. Loving Queen for so many years of my life, I am quite disappointed about this transformation into mediocrity. Freddie would actually turn around in his grave. 4 1/2 of 10 points. My advice: Rather watch some old footage of their concerts on Youtube, which are a lot more enjoyable!!!
