Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Bryce R — 04 Nov 2018
Great movie. I echo what others have said regarding the outright wrongness of the professional critics.
The movie hits the highlights of Queen. I wish there was more on how they went about songwriting, but its lack doesn't make the movie bad. We get glimpses of Freddie Mercury's conflicted personal life and we get a small window into his sexual life. I felt like this portion was presented well. It was tame but I'm a believer that sex scenes rarely add anything to a movie anyway...
The critics seem to believe that there were deep secrets to Mercury's life that were glossed over. I ask the question, "What if Mercury, like many others in their 20's, was just figuring himself out and solidifying who he was". Since the band was involved in the making of the movie, I doubt the story was completely wrong.
Good movie. Its worth watching.
