Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Gary K — 02 Nov 2018
Freddy Mercury IS a precious figure and stopped being "just" a man when he merged into the zeitgeist of rock and roll for all eternity. Us non critics rather like our gods (small g OK?) and prefer them to be idealized and passionate.
This portrayal was enough of both to make this a powerful movie that has me thinking about my own past deeply and will continue to inspire me for days. I'm very glad I didn't listen to the sterile intelligentsia of film making on this one.
There was an excellent scene in the movie where reporters were hammering him with questions that he rightly answered, "none of your business." I loved this movie and it's none of your damn business as to why exactly that is.
.. mainly because you just don't get it yourselves anyway. You have another self-serving agenda which involves a cruel desire to deconstruct an artist and a god. Screw the critics who discouraged people from meeting their god.
Blasphemy. Go see this movie!
