Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Cvr T — 02 Nov 2018
As a casual queen head I found the film to be a solid entry point into the group's mythos, well more so mercury's . i'm glad the film wasn't called "Queen:the movie" as it was obvious from the first scene that this film was a freddy tribute front and center.
I dug the rags to riches tale, the romance , the melodrama , a great time at the theater save for parts of mercury's career unsung. Where was "the bicycle song"? Wasn't there a Queen album before "Sheer Heart attack" or am I as an audience member expected to say that was covered in the.
Earliest "one year later" sequence of the film?
No mention of "Flash Gordon" and the obvious gaps in scenes that were left on the cutting room floor showed that the editor in the film should have lost his production credit before the director's was ever in question, are points that brought this film down as I sat in my seat.
Lastly, I was sure this film was advertised as a hard-r. This is the same problem I had while watching "Venom" the question of what cut of the film I could be watching as oppossed to the poorly edited one I am currently viewing because of a company's money grab for younger audience members which comprimises the artistic vision of the original cut that I paid to see. When viewing a film I believe that one should be completely encapsulated in the universe of the picture, "Bohemian Rhaosody" just had too many noticeable edits to keep my interest fully in the story.
