Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Tim M — 03 Nov 2018
So good---the back story of Queen was unknown to me except that Freddy eventually died from AIDS. It was a very nice tribute to the band, and well-acted, especially by Rami Melek who I had never heard of.
Amazing performance! And since I lived though all Queen's music on the top 40 charts, it was very nostalgic as well. Great seeing the Irish driver from Downton Abbey get a key role as Freddy's gay friend.
I had heard Hollywood cut the gay stuff but they didn't, it's there. It's just the primary focus of the band's history, but the film is honest about how it affected them. I didn't expect crying to happen but many in the audience (me included) had a few moments.
