Review of Bodysnatch (2018) by Robert M — 22 Jun 2018
BODYSNATCH seems like a cool story but seems is as good as it gets for this summer bomb. First time screen writer Gregory Ballard shows occasional signs of talent, though the concept of college buddies taking a ride along in a police cruiser and facing an alien attack that has them saving the world would have been better suited for a teen webcast.
Reese Mishler who was the only thing worth watching in the 2015 stinker, THE GALLOWS, offers up a blend of really bad acting and sleep walking. A check of his IMDB page shows an actor in free fall. The star of a studio released film just a few short years ago is now related to student films about a high schooler discovering his homosexuality in a whore house on prom night and a low budget flick about a one person transgender dating service. He should either fire his management team or get his head examined.
The rest of the cast give solid workman Iike performances but nothing about the film is overly appealing.
It's not the worst movie of the year, but it'll be in the running for the prize.
