It doesn't reach the trashy cult status of "Showgirls" because it tries to play it straight. Madonna is about as asexual as an 80's pop icon can get. You can see her wincing as she tries to "act" sexy.
Too bad she and Willem Dafoe have less than zero chemistry. The cast is filled with quality actors, which makes me wonder what on earth they saw in this movie that would make them want to become a part of it.
Save for Joe Mantegna - who seems to be in on the joke - nobody leaves unscathed.
