Review of Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022) by Compi24 — 23 Aug 2022
One of the bigger surprises of the year for me, as I thought the trailer for this was a bit "much" in just about every regard. However, what I didn't know was that that's kind of the point of it all.
"Bodies Bodies Bodies" is a disarmingly caustic critique of modern sociological phenomena disguised as a sort of whodunit for the gen-z crowd. Even the very final reveal holds true to the overall thematic content at hand, suggesting that the real "killers" at hand aren't simply murderers lurking in the shadows, but our own shallowness, our own lack of authenticity, our own weaponized insecurities that are our undoing as a collective youth.
Never thought this movie would have me thinking this deeply, but here we are. Again, I was really caught off guard by this and, while it may not be the best horror movie I've seen from A24, it's certainly worth the trip to the theater.
