Review of Bobby Fischer Against the World (2011) by Ian G — 30 Apr 2011
An interesting documentary that focuses on the life of Bobby Fisher specifically surrounding the best chess game of his life in 1972, his genius being established in his youth and during the build up slightly showcasing some frailties and then the disappearances and decent into madness and paranoia.
Very slick and intelligent doc that shows great interest in this icon and acts as sort of a collective encapsulation on that period in the 70's in US history and how that moment captured the headlines.
Makes me what to learn more about Fisher which means the doc defintely serves its purpose. One of the best to date so far at Hot Docs 2011.
