Review of Bob Roberts (1992) by Alexandra S — 17 Jul 2007
I'll steal from the plot description and agree that this film was shockingly prescient. I knew I was seeing something special when I viewed this in a theatre, in 1992. Hilarious, scary, and spot-on, the jingoistic machinations of Robbins character is only one step away from our current paradigm (take away the clever folk singer part, and who do we have? Hmm?) Brilliant performances, stellar writing and direction--this film cemented Tim Robbins into my world of role models.
I watched this again a couple of years ago, and the final segment moved me to tears, because it provided a new commentary on all of the insanity going on right now in Washington, and in Iraq.
