Review of Bob Dylan – Don't Look Back (1967) by Joel A — 09 Jul 2007
A really incredible document of life on the road in 1965. I don't care if you like Dylan's music or not - this is an important and honest film about a young man thrust into international stardom. Featuring wonderful scenes with Joan Baez, Alan Price (of the Animals) and Donovan - all of them with a different kind of relationship to Dylan.
Highly recommended, and more, I really urge everyone to listen to the commentary. Pennebaker casts a different light on the infamous scenes with the Times journalist and the Science Student.
Also interesting to watch because at the time, Dylan was breaking up with Baez, so to see them together, yet never really interacting, is interesting as well.
Simply brilliant!
