Review of Blues Harp (1998) by Sterling T — 10 Jun 2008
This film has a raw energy that gives the impression of authenticity. The plot reads like a fomulaic yakuza scipt, but Miike injects so much originality + vitality through the casting, location, camera work + editing.
The ending is beautiful + thought provoking by simply leaving out the enevitable violent ending + providing the audience with a metaphysical image instead.
