With a Brackett and Wilder script, Cooper and Colbert stage an epic battle of wills. You have plenty of the vaunted Lubistch touch with the courtship over the Louis XIV's washtub and various attempts at seduction and reconciliation.
a gender-inverted taming of the shrew with enough innuendo to make Rip Taylor blush.
