Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Andrew D — 09 May 2010
Bizarre, suspenseful, disturbing, and sometimes hilarious neo-noir. Beautiful, surreal cinematography, dreamy soundtrack, stylized dialogue, and eerie sound design. I've seen it several times and still don't quite know what to make of it.
One thing's for sure - each viewing is different and interesting. Dennis Hopper steals the show with an iconic performance as Frank Booth, the sadistic, profane psychopath with severe psychological issues.
