Review of Blue Valentine (2010) by Christopher R — 03 Aug 2013
"How do you trust your feelings when they can just dissappear like that? " -Cindy.
If you've ever wanted to watch a train wreck in slow motion, you're in for a treat. Emotionally intense and heart wrenching. Unforgettable. This movie has been haunting me for days. Love makes us do stupid things. Among the many, we convince ourselves that we know someone yet all we really know is what that person is willing to show us. Likewise, the movie deals with the unpalatable truth that many times all good things must come to an end. Even true love. It paints a grim picture of love and that's why it's difficult to watch. I just wish it would've focused a little on the beauty of personal tragedy: the opportunity to reinvent youself. If you're in a relationship, I wouldn't watch this movie. If you're single, watch it and rejoice in your singularity because the only person who can decieve you is yourself.
