Review of Blue Valentine (2010) by Ferny C — 31 Mar 2012

This is not for everyone but the type of movies that I love! Those which illustrate real situations that all of us will one day experience. I had just gone thru my own similar relationship fall out and this film really hit the nail on the head. Sometimes we as people need to see this type of predicament where there are real stakes involved. It has totally helped me move on from my own experiences. Life isn't always rainbows and butterflies as much as we would like it but it's these moments that make us cherish those which are. The Dalai Lama says in his book The Art of Happiness, that people who regularly indulge in others success and fortune are less happy as those who are appreciative of what they have in juxtaposition to what others are enduring. Which explains why people are riveted to problems and news.

Anyway it was poignant and awesome. Definitely not short-attention span theater!
