Review of Blue State (2007) by Corey N — 03 Aug 2009
This is sort of a comedy, political, drama and romance film all mixed into one. The story is basically about a young democrat who makes a promise to move to Canada if George Bush is relected for a second term.
Well we know Geroge Bush is elected President so he begins his journey to Canada. He gets a travel companion who also wants to leave the United States. Through out the film we get to know each of these characters and follow their journey up to Winnipeg, Canada.
Solid performances from Breckin Meyer and Anna Paquin. The characters are interesting and the story is entertaining. I found it funny when Breckin thought all Canadians are suppose to be friendly. He learned the hard way they are not all friendly.
I guess I find that amusing as a Canadian myself. The film shows that stereotypes about both American and Canadian are not all true. The film also shows the views of people's political beliefs for each side.
Overall I found this to be a decent watch. Well worth checking out.
