Review of Blue Ruin (2014) by John H — 05 May 2014
A necessary and very entertaining riposte to the film genre that purports that every revenge-driven outsider is either a criminal mastermind or a martial arts savvy streetfighter. Dwight is neither, but many years ago his fragile life was upended by a casual act of violence.
In trying to exact his revenge his life comes apart even further. Forget Arnie, forget Seagal. Macon Blair is the man.
