Review of Blue Ruin (2014) by Mark J — 06 May 2014
Writer-director-cinematographer Jeremy Saulnier has cooked up a terrific noir with 'Blue Ruin'. Reminiscent of early Coens (think Blood Simple) with a dark sense of humour and some nifty camera work, this is a very accomplished piece of suspense.
Macon Blair as Dwight is superb as the dorkish assasin bent on revenge; a strangely sympathetic anti-hero attempting to carry out a 'full Tarantino' on those responsible for previous misdemeanours.
A simple story, told with great flair.
