Review of Blue Ruin (2014) by Jeff K — 28 Aug 2015
Blue Ruin: Good indy revenge thriller movie. This isn't one of those killing-a minute type movies, so be patient with the outcome. If you didn't like the timing of movies like Cast Away (where much of the film gets inside one character's head, and it often feels like things are moving in real time), this movie isn't for you.
It's the difference between liking a baseball game that's a slugfest and one that's a pitcher's duel. This movie is a cinematic pitcher's duel. Not a really twisty movie by any means, but still fascinating to see how the main character acts and reacts to situations.
A couple of moments of head scratching by me, with the "Why does everyone leave their keys in their cars in this movie?" questions in my head, but other than that, a good revenge thriller movie.
Adam Jensen, there's my annual film review.
