Review of Blue Ruin (2014) by Mike L — 18 Aug 2014
Vengeance is a predictable theme in movies - particularly American films, but Jeremy Saulnier has found a surprisingly new and effective way of approaching the genre. This is an exceptional film that will pull you into the story even if you want to look away.
Be warned, Saulnier has no problem with utilizing gore. However the violence is used to potent impact. Oh, and one can't help but note the surprising appearance of Eve Plumb (AKA 'Jan Brady) -- and it isn't gimmicky.
She is, as the rest of the cast, quite good.
