Review of Blue Ruin (2014) by Brad M — 23 Dec 2014
Featuring a less known cast and directer by a less known director, this movie really overpreformes. It is very well done, the cinematography is perfect, as is the acting. The sqript is really good, and brings out the main character and his situation very well.
For starters the trailer for this film had me really excited, it was well done and made it look very dark yet interesting. I was disappointed in the film itself when Dwight cut his hair and beard, as that was one of my favorite parts of the movie, and him looking all perfect and professional didn't fit his character.
But he was still the star, and sold himself well, even for a arguably bad guy. The plot was good, like the aftermath of so many other films out there. It was a bit slow at times, the opposite if what the trailer made it look like, so they sold it right.
But otherwise it was intense and trilling and full of suspense. It was also very gory, hard to watch at times due to the realism and amount of blood. The ending was good, one of those ending rarely seen, and it's a good way to end a different style film.
In the end really good movie, glad I found it.
