Review of Blue Like Jazz (2012) by Jill K — 23 Mar 2012
Blue Like Jazz is the humbling story of how Christians have strayed from the original purpose of the church and made it something commercialized and segregated from those who most need it. This movie explores the human trials with doubt, loneliness, self examination, pursuit of fitting in, and loss/finding of faith. This movie is more than a "Christian" movie, this is about a journey of struggling with believing in a lifestyle and being disappointed with what it has become.
The end of the movie sums up how we need to pursue our faith. Humility, forgiveness, and always remembering our purpose: to love.
The journey of this movie has been amazing! It has gone from a book of memoirs, to a production, to being halted due to lack of funding, to fan supported funding, then on to production again. It's been an awesome ride. I believe in the mission of the movie and love the way it came together!
Love love love the movie. Go see it!! APRIL 13!!!!
