Review of Blue Jasmine (2013) by Rocky R — 25 Apr 2014

This movie was good, and the acting was good, but I just didn't enjoy it. I felt horribly uncomfortable watching it. Usually in a film like this where every character has a plethora of issues that they are going through, there is at least one character who has their head on straight to some degree who the viewer is able to relate to.

In this film, however, every single character is completely messed up, and their situations don't improve much as the film progresses, either. Still, I would be lying if I said that I didn't think that Cate Blanchett was absolutely fantastic in this movie.

But still, what was Allen thinking? Why the pseudo-rape scene? Why the complete lack of stable-minded characters? I wouldn't want insult it and call it a bad movie, but I don't think that I'll be watching it again.
