Review of Blue Jasmine (2013) by Henry G — 26 May 2014
With a phenomenal performance from the leading lady, Cate Blanchett dissolves into this possibly career-best performance of a pompous well intentioned but extremely delusional bourgeois character that leads an an extremely well casted team of performances including comedians Louis ck and Andrew dice clay that help you fall In love with this expertly written story by Woody Allen of a widow who's lost everything and desperately and dimwittedly trying to get it all back while living with her love lost sister played superbly by Sally hawkes.
The story is exceptional and one of Allen's most resonating and funny screenplays in recent history other than Midnight in Paris and it takes you straight into Blanchett's character and her ensuing madness while delivering a poignant and powerful Riches to rags journey riddled with modern social commentary and the effects of materialism and coupled with a cutesy modern love story it's a can't miss independent sensation from Allen.
