Review of Blue Jasmine (2013) by Hemant Singh C — 16 Oct 2015
I was expecting a lot from this movie but I'm going to come right out and say it, it's overrated. The film paints the picture of Jasmine French who loses everything after her husband is arrested. She ends up living with her sister who lost a large sum of money thanks to Jasmine's husband.
What makes the film worth watching is Cate Blanchett's performance as Jasmine, the way she portrays a woman who is struggling to let go of everything she once had and unravels in the process.
I was disappointed with the ending too as it felt like a bit of an anti-climax and it just left me feeling empty and hollow. But then maybe the viewer is meant to feel that? To understand the emptiness that Jasmine feels as knowing she has lost everything.
