Review of Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) by Jonathan P — 18 May 2014
Blue is the Warmest Color is a strange film that is very hard to rationally analyze. While at it's narrative best rather entertaining and fundamentally sound at it's worst comes across as a high production adult film.
With its pornographic scenes so explicit that it feels more like a Hustler production Blue is the Warmest Color is oddly appealing when the story is taken from the bedroom and set in the streets of France.
While I am not a advocate of the homosexual lifestyle Blue is the Warmest Color is the one film dealing with the subject that I didn't feel completely uncomfortable viewing perhaps due to the superb acting and strong narrative voice that focuses more on the human relationship rather than the gay rights movement.
However even as good as it was at times it drug and timing in at three hours is something I really only enjoy in an epic action movie like Gladiator or Braveheart.
