Review of Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) by Jan M — 13 Nov 2013
Adele Exarchopoulos's performance is pretty flawless and the dialogue, while I think in scenes could have been cut down, remains mostly witty and beautiful while maintaining a natural and conversational feel.
The relationship between Adele and Lea is something indescribable. You feel the connection between them right when they meet and without words, can feel them falling in love, and director Abdellatif Kechiche deserves credit for portraying that connection so fluidly that you know how these two feel about each other without dialogue.
It's a film about the confused state of mind of falling in love, and while not every scene is perfect, and where at times the dialogue may drag, the performances really make this film into something beautiful.
