Review of Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) by Alex W — 08 Apr 2014
The best part of this movie is none of it felt like over the top melodrama, realistic almost to a fault. At times this realism makes the film a little slow a few times but not a lot. I experienced as close as I possibly can what it would be like to me a young woman discovering I was a lesbian.
This kind of confident film making (as well as the graphic sex) is uncommon in american film. The title doesn't really make scene. Also the lessons learned in the high school adel's class relating to her love life is kinda uninvented and a bit of a cop out.
