Review of Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) by Douglas L — 04 Feb 2014
This film is a genuine love story. I enjoyed all of it a great deal. The performances were very believable especially when emotions were getting involved. I dont often watch films that are able to express the hurt and the baggage that love drags at its heals.
This film does all of this, as well as capturing the moments in between a relationship that are so special. We have seen movies like this before but this one struck me as something special for a variety of reasons.
There are my obvious reasons that make the picture provocative and then there are other reasons like its use of blue in the film. It is not shot in any particular way that makes you want to focus on the blue, but it is always there.
The title of the film made me very aware of it and I felt that the color pallet and its attention to the color with Blue was very beautiful. I hope to know how much control and attention was really paid to this.
