Review of Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) by Brandon W — 29 Feb 2016
Blue is the Warmest Color is the first lesbian and NC-17 film that I've seen, and I wanted to watch it because I've heard great things about it. I was nervous about watching it and my best friend was surprised that I was even going to do this.
So when I first watched it, I actually loved it and was quite something that was different to me. I actually would've typed the review for it, but I was nervous about it and just wussed out. After watching My Summer of Love and typed that out, I started to man up and try to watch the film again whenever I get the time for it as it had been a while, and review it.
Even if I didn't finish it, I'll still get enough information to make a review. So after all that, Blue is the Warmest Color is a fantastic romance that is definitely the way to make a good romance that is drama.
Lea Seydoux and Adele Exarchopoulos are excellent and their chemistry is very realistic and interesting. When I first saw that it was 3 hours long, o was surprised and was worried that the movie could've stretched it too much, but it went by fast as the movie got me invested and I wouldn't think that it was long.
The writing is very well done, and there are some moments that were unexpected, which made me learn more about it. The characters are very three-dimensional and are also memorable. Blue is the Warmest Color is a clever film that doesn't run out of strings and goes in the realistic approach.
