Review of Blue Caprice (2013) by Douglas C — 14 Sep 2013
The horrifying story behind the 2003 DC Sniper Attacks is prime fodder for a generic thriller (as can be seen in the made-for-tv film 23 Days of Fear), but writer-director Alexandre Moors shows that he is no such film-maker.
In this astounding debut film, Moors casts a very chilling feel to the film, accompanied by imagery that's disturbing yet restrained, and impressively tense use of sound and music. Isaiah Washington and Tequen Richmond both give powerful performances as a twisted farther and son, and it's easy to forget that they are actors.
It's not subtle or dense, but it's undeniably effective at what it sets out to be.
