Review of Blow-Up (1966) by Sakari L — 17 May 2008
Only Antonioni, the master of self-indulged, image-centered movies could make the perfect film about 1960's Swinging London. This is a puzzling (some would say pretentious), well-crafted piece of work that leaves you with an empty feeling.
A lot of the meaning it's supposed to carry probably isn't there - yet, as a precursor to the paranoid cinema of the 70's, it remains far more than just a fascinating period piece.
