Review of Blow-Up (1966) by Richard C — 22 Jul 2009
Fast-paced for an Antonioni. I'll have to make sense out of the metaphors with a second viewing, or maybe by meditating on them in my dreams. The wordless expressions achieved in L'Eclisse are attempted here but they're more of a laugh-in-your-face anti-resolution which might or might not have you disappointed given the interesting concept courtesy of Julio Corta'zar.
Familiar compositions and wide-angle photography present, but otherwise nothing visually groundbreaking as in his Italian films.
