Review of Blow Out (1981) by Tim S — 07 Jan 2010
I don't think I've seen all of DePalma's film, but this is the only one I actually could completely understand, unlike the original Mission Impossible or Femme Fetal for example...
Keeping with the whole thriller conspiracy angle though, this film is no different than most, and it was quite entertaining.
The most intriguing aspect of this film was the way that Travolta's character puts everything together and figures things out for himself. Just happening to be out recording sounds and then making a movie, matching the sounds with it to the pictures released by the press...that was really great. And having that great of an ear to differnciate between a gun shot and a blow out.
How they linked the beginning and the end of the movie was great too. Ohhh man...yeah that was very cool.
See this movie!
