Review of Blow (2001) by Johnfishergrohman G — 09 Jun 2013
Johnny Depp plays a small time drug dealer that makes it to the big leagues, losing his family and being sold out by his friends on the way. Based on the true story of George Jung, I am not sure if the movie was trying to solicit sympathy for him but given the lives wrecked by the drug industry, it strikes me as a bizarre motivation.
Although a reasonably well made film, it does it have its issues - probably the biggest being Penelope Cruz and her inability to demonstrate any dramatic ability. Not a film to be recommmended.
