Review of Blow (2001) by Kieran F — 04 Mar 2013
Interesting Concept and Johny Depp does an amazing performance but...it's got this whole...been there done that feel. of the rise and fall(which is good) but it's not as good as say goodfella's(Wich interestingly enough had Ray liotta as the main characters father in this film and was a cocaine dealer in Goodfellas who got his cocaine FROM this guy) in the rise and fall aspect.
It's worth watching and it's good but the ending becomes just A LITTLE too sappy but that's minor. The performances from Depp and Cruz are enough to warren this film a %60 It's an interesting film about the cocaine drug trade but to much of the second half of the film is spent with Depps character trying to get in touch with his daughter and the film then becomes more of a sad soap opera or something then an interesting biography about the man and how he dealt blow.
I would say blow is worth checking out but it's really hard to warrant seeing it more then say once or twice only cause there really isn't a lot there in the film after the first half. As soon as Depps character rises to the top and then we see him fall the film becomes a massive Father daughter reunion type film(which never even happens, the reunion,)and it's really dull. IDK I still liked the film but I really wouldn't watch it a lot of times.
