Review of BloodRayne (2005) by Cory H — 20 Jul 2011

I was expecting much worse from this based on the reviews. I'm not a video game fan, so I came in with no preconceived ideas on what it should be. What I got was a mildly entertaining vampire movie starring the knockout Kristanna Loken with a supporting cast of actors I've seen and liked in other movies. The acting is passable - I'm sure it would have been better had the dialogue not been so contrived. The movie was gory and the effects were better than many other horror movies I've seen. The story is engaging but told in a weak and ineffective manner by director Boll. There was little build-up, providing no tension. You can guess the ending from the very beginning. A little piece of horror fluff than can be enjoyed, but could have been much better.
