I am not a big fan of jeff daniels acting. I thought it was just plain bad - BUT clint eastwood can manage to salvage anything. And I love everything he does. He put together a nice mystery (read the novel - it's better) and spins together a nice story.
(Not nearly as good as his recent stuff The Changeling and Gran Torino - he gets better with age.).
