Review of Blood Work (2002) by Tommy M — 13 Jun 2009
This is a prime example of a film that drags the audience right into its web of mystery, and then once the answer is revealed, everything spirals into a formulaic result where the killer is so stupid that it's almost laughable to think he could pull off such a complex trail of clues.
I followed the story real well, but the romance segment felt completely unnecessary, and totally not what I would expect to see from any character Clint Eastwood plays.
I'm a big fan of Eastwood's work as a director, and despite the flawed payoff, his commitment to the project is still quite evident; especially when he nods at a few classic roles from his earlier days. So for that, I admit that this is a film worth seeing if you're a fan of murder mysteries; it's just not one of Eastwood's better outings.
