I can't believe Clint Eastwood directed this one. No doubt it has the framework of a story that is right up his alley: a gruff ex-detective gets involved in a serial killer investigation. One of Eastwood's strengths has been the ability to showcase convincing relationships between people who would not normally get along. Blood Work is filled with unconvincing relationships and is without a single compelling emotional tie even though we as the audience are supposed to believe otherwise. This all leads to a travesty of a third act.

Eastwood the actor is on his A-game as usual and is really the only highlight here, other than a decent mystery that is complex enough and we get enough information to guess along but still be somewhat in the dark.
