Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Maria U — 11 Aug 2011
Violence and gore are definitely not my thing, but I can appreciate good cinema. All the praise this film has received over the years is well deserved, and this was quite a stunning debut from a couple of young and promising filmmakers.
I have to say the anecdotic details and stylish visual technique captivated me more than the story itself, but also enjoyed its very twisted and intelligent plot. From the opening scenes where a couple talks while rain falls down their carâ(TM)s windshield, I felt trapped by the Coens brilliant visual style.
Perfect introduction to a remarkable movie. And what an endingâ¦!
