Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Christopher S — 29 Mar 2012
A strange and violent film but this is what the Coens do. This was their first film and it was quite amazing. The story was captivating and the acting (especially Frances McDormand and E. Emmet Walsh) were superb.
The plot twists were excellent and acting was superb. If I am not mistaken, nearly all of the actors in this film were up-and-comers, not established stars as of yet. I saw a film with similar stories lines called Red Rock West but it did not hold a candle to Blood Simple.
Most people do not know that these was the Coens' first film. Must see for all Coen fans. One of the darkest films I have ever seen.
