Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Tom T — 21 Nov 2010
A dark suspense filled Coen Brothers classic that will have your eyes glued to the screen. Blood Simple shows a murder that goes messily wrong and leaves so many loose ends, leaving the characters of the film constantly guessing who done it.
When Blood Simple was released it was a B-movie as there wasn't enough money to get it on the big screen, but it wasn't bad enough to be chucked on the scrap-heap. B-movie watchers must have been amazed at what they saw all those years ago, instead of seeing the average badly made low budget films with terrible scripts and actors they came across this well crafted piece of cinema genius.
This has to be my favorite Coen brothers film, as its dark, suspenseful, gripping, and thrilling. You have to give this film a watch!
