Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Lee B — 27 Dec 2010
Blood Simple gets off to an uneven and unclear start, but when it hits the 20 minute mark it finds it's footing and evolves into one of the sharpest, intriguing and most clever mystery thrillers I've seen in years.
It's full of brilliant performances, great camerawork, strong writing, a powerful score and an exhilarating and tense finale. This debut picture from the Coens is a brilliant introduction to the men that would soon bring us films like The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men and Miller's Crossing.
