Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Aine O'connor (240) for Sunday Independent (Ireland) (504) on 09 Oct 2016

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Luis Fernando Galván (195) for En Filme (289) on 09 Oct 2016

An action movie that criticizes, very subtly, the most absurd aspects of American culture. [Full review in Spanish]…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Lucero Solórzano (126) for Excelsior (313) on 09 Oct 2016

It has good actions moments, but also delves into the story of a man who fell very low and brings out the best to help her daughter to build…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Wendy Ide (1,500) for Observer (UK) (2,398) on 08 Oct 2016

Some of the dialogue sounds a little written, though Gibson's tendency to bellow his lines like a wounded bull elephant compensates and carries…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Henry Fitzherbert (699) for Daily Express (UK) (2,141) on 08 Oct 2016

A raw B-movie in which Gibson blazes with dark charisma, edgy wit and the kind of suppressed anger that became his trademark…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Adam Sweeting (122) for The Arts Desk (640) on 06 Oct 2016

Having been to Hollywood hell and back, Mel Gibson is perfectly placed to play the battered big daddy par excellence…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Rich Cline (3,056) for Contactmusic.com (927) on 06 Oct 2016

It's also so relentlessly grisly that it borders on cartoonish…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Maryann Johanson (2,701) for Flick Filosopher (2,694) on 06 Oct 2016

Sly observations on American hypocrisy, a fresh father-daughter dynamic, and terrific performances elevate this a cut above the typical revenge…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Brian Viner (589) for Daily Mail (UK) (1,461) on 06 Oct 2016

If you overlook the corniness, it is proper, high-octane, thrilling stuff, as father and daughter go on the run from the gangsters and, the…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Geoffrey Macnab (1,253) for Independent (UK) (2,026) on 05 Oct 2016

Gibson is only 60 years old, a few years younger than Liam Neeson, and so could conceivably continue appearing in action movies like this for…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Andy Psyllides (52) for Sky Cinema (1,726) on 05 Oct 2016

At its best it's a whole lot of fun, director Jean-François Richet (Assault on Precinct 13, Mesrine) and his game leading man serving up a…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Alan Jones (357) for Radio Times (2,421) on 05 Oct 2016

Not to be taken seriously at any point, this is just a crowd-pleasingly nasty revenge saga, which builds to a surprising and unexpectedly downbeat…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Allan Hunter (1,486) for Daily Express (UK) (2,141) on 05 Oct 2016

Mel Gibson is back and he's madder than ever in Blood Father, a weary, B-movie thriller with intriguing parallels to the star's own life…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Peter Bradshaw (3,667) for Guardian (4,584) on 05 Oct 2016

There's an unexpectedly engaging performance from Gibson and terrific supporting turns from William H Macy as his neighbour and AA sponsor,…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Tim Robey (1,578) for Daily Telegraph (UK) (2,495) on 05 Oct 2016

In the grizzled spectacle Gibson willingly makes of himself, it has a B-movie equivalent of that A-plus Mickey Rourke comeback, delivered with…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By Adam Woodward (285) for Little White Lies (3,136) on 04 Oct 2016

There are few more exhilarating sights in all of cinema than Mel Gibson unleashing a world of hurt on a bunch of crack-eyed, greasy-haired crooks…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By James Mottram (656) for Total Film (3,532) on 03 Oct 2016

Jean-François Richet elevates the predictable action with swagger, while a grizzled Gibson gives us glimpses of his glory days…

Review of Blood Father (2016)

By James White (109) for Empire Magazine (3,326) on 03 Oct 2016

This is Mel Gibson back to doing what he once did best, just older and grumpier. The movie has problems but delivers when it needs to…
