The ability to show such beauty amidst incredible atrocity sets not only the movie apart from its peers--but the acting is as well. The natural chemistry that flows between Dicaprio, Connelly, and Hounsou is not only a testament to the acting skill each possesses, but a certain respect for those they represent.
Dicaprio's portrayal of the white, soldier of fortune rodisian is brilliantly done, as are the shots of rawness and real beauty of Sierra Leone. The fact remains--why do we place such high value on diamonds? Well done Zwick.
